<p>Please find attached planning, activities and PPT for a piece of work for year 3. We looked at a the diary entry of a Spartan warrior using Talk for Writing start by learning the text the children worked towards creating their own diary.</p> <p>I have taught a number of grammatical aspects through the original text, and adaptations of the text. Our school works through a specific process:</p> <p>Guided Work:<br /> A shared text that the children read together and discuss, the text will showcase the aspect of grammar I will teach for that lesson.</p> <p>Independent Work:<br /> This it where the children have a go and is normally self marked, they children either identify the feature of have a go a using in in a way I have modeled on the board. <p>This is looking at a description of the appearance of a Greek God. The pack includes a picture of Aphrodite, a character description of Aphrodite, a word bank, information about different Greek Gods to help the children have a go at describing their own god.</p>

<p>Three activities looking at the children creating compound sentences from two simple sentences.</p> <p>1 Activity:<br /> Children to look at a short piece of text and pick out the compound sentences, discuss why they are compound sentences.</p> <p>2 Activity:<br /> Children to match sentences together in pairs to match the sentences together, children to discuss their choices and share as a class. I cut them out so the children could move the sentences round, we also discussed the changes in punctuation when joining the sentences together.</p> <p>3 Activity:<br /> Children to match the sentences using the correct conjunctions, list provided for the children to work from.</p>

<p>This is a powerpoint for a year 3 class based on uplevelling and editing a Greek God factfile. Looking at making sure the children have included a number of points to help them achieve ARE for year 3.</p>

<p>Toolkit based on year 3 writing on the Greek gods, genre features and ARE features for the children to identify. I used at after the hot task to help with the editing process, I asked the children to pick out examples in their own writing and note these on the sheet.</p>
