Please leave a review, I'd really appreciate the feedback!<br /> <br /> A full set of engaging lesson resources for teaching the awesomeness of adaptation.<br /> <br /> A full lesson plan is included but here are the basics.<br /> <br /> 10 mins: Begin the adaptations starter activity.<br /> Students use the adaptations of organism’s worksheet to suggest the adaptations displayed by a selection of 6 particularly well adapted organisms. Students have roughly 2 mins per organism to identify and explain these adaptations as well as using these ideas to create their own definition of adaptation as per the lessons outcome grid. Blooms taxonomy is used to differentiate the task. Timer is displayed on board to help students time manage and engage with task.<br /> <br /> 10 mins: Classroom discussion is created by drawing answers and ideas from students using lollisticks and targeted questioning to deepen understanding. This discussion will be carried out under the back drop of visually appealing HD photos of the organisms to cater for visual learners. <br /> Next activity is introduced. Frankenstanimals. The task for this is explained and displayed on the board using a demo to ensure students are aware of what is expected. Again this task is differentiated into 3 pieces with the highest ability students linking their work to evolution and survival of the fittest. The scaffolding sheet and clarity of instructions however should ensure a large proportion of students reach this task and ensure rapid progress.<br /> <br /> 20 mins: Students complete the frankenstanimals task whilst I circulate to assess understanding and ensure engagement with the task.<br /> <br /> 5 mins: Students share some of their ideas with the class to deepen knowledge and allow me to assess understanding. Plenary task is introduced.<br /> <br /> 5 mins: Students complete plenary 5 minute group discussion plenary task using A3 storm sheets to record their discussion. Timer and questions displayed on board<br /> <br /> 5 mins: Students feedback to class and are introduced to a homework assignment that is further outlined on google classroom.<br />

Full lesson plan provided but outline is below.<br /> <br /> Students line up in single file and are invited into the room. They think about the question on the board in silence whilst I take the register.<br /> Students then discuss their thoughts on this question and then I use lollisticks to draw some ideas.<br /> <br /> The definition of homeostasis is introduced and the lesson objectives and outcomes displayed. The first main activity is explained.<br /> <br /> Students watch the first 2 minute videoclip on Charlie in the chocolate factory. They then work in pairs to complete the first section of the levelled video worksheet. lollistick questioning for miniplenary.<br /> <br /> Students watch second 1 minute video and then work in pairs to complete the second section of the video worksheet. lollistick questioning for miniplenary<br /> <br /> <br /> Students watch final 2 min videoclip and then answer the final questions on their video worksheet. . lollistick questioning for miniplenary.<br /> <br /> Students read through the Rambo homeostasis fact sheet to find answers to their individual levelled question grids.
