CSI Forensic Science - Be a detective and use science to figure out who stole the jewels from the town hall. Your students will love doing this activity, suitable for both middle school and upper elementary. Design a Roman Gladiator: A Rome Activity - Create your own Gladiator Bring ancient Rome into your classroom with this activity where students design their own gladiator Gladiator: Two versions of this sheet are included - one with the outline of a gladiator, and one blank worksheet if the students want to draw their own gladiator. Also included is writing organiser which encourages your students to think about how the gladiators must have felt being forced to fight. A great topic for class discussion.

Climate change, human needs and the concept of sustainability are discussed as your students design a new island for the inhabitants of a small island nation called Chill-Ville, whose current island is sinking due to rising sea levels. An enjoyable activity that gets your students thinking - great for middle school. Can last 1-3 lessons depending on teacher preference. This resource has 5 main activities and a teacher notes section with a set of instructions. Activity 1: Students attempt to help the residents of Chill-Ville out by coming up with ideas about what can be done about the rising sea levels. A link to a short youtube clip is provided which highlights the plight of a real island nation suffering this fate (Kiribati). Human needs and the concept of sustainability is also addressed. Activity 2: Students pretend to be different inhabitants of Chill-Ville and have to think about what they would want on the new island. Activity 5: Students create poster and use persuasive writing to try and get visitors to come and stay at the new island.

I Have Who Has Place Value Hundreds of Thousands - 100000 This is a fun whole class game which allows your students to practice their place values in the hundreds of thousands. Simply print these cards out and laminate them (optional) so they can be used multiple times. Jumble up the cards and give to your students – make sure all the cards are given out (some students might get two cards). Select a student to start – they read aloud the “I have, who has” on their card – all other students are listening and the student with the next number then reads aloud their “I have, who has”. Carry on until you are back to the first card. I use this game as a math warm-up. Students love a bit of competition also – so I record the class time – and then challenge them to improve upon the class time when we next play the game.
