This lesson focuses on the marriage of Romeo and Juliet. A summary of scene 4 &amp; 5 is provided as a starter to ensure prior understanding of the build up to this scene. Students focus on the feelings of the characters involved in this scene and their opinion of the marriage. An engaging worksheet is provided on the PowerPoint so students can easily show their understanding. An extra challenge is provided at the end answering a question using a PEEZ structure. This was aimed at a middle band year 9 class but can easily be differentiated.

A challenging lesson allowing students to annotate and analyse Act 3 Scene 2. Students work in small groups and work at different stations to focus on key parts of the scene. Students then consider how Juliet's feelings changed throughout the scene. Numeracy link - students can then plot these changes on a graph to show how her feelings develop. Time is left at the end to reflect. Planned for a top set year 9 class but easily adapted. This was structured to really challenge students and push them to analyse the scene independently / in small groups.

A 2 part lesson about fear. Students read a short story and look at the language devices used. They then complete a worksheet asking a range of key questions using the current GCSE style questions. Students have the opportunity to select information and provide appropriate evidence to support their findings. Lesson 2 looks at delaying revelations about a fear. Students can create a title that will hint at their fear and then create their own success criteria for their developing. Students take ownership of their learning and have the opportunity to use their reading and writing skills.

My class completed this over two lesson so i have included the second lesson as it allows students to focus on key quotations and zoom in on different word classes in preparation for creating PEEZL paragraph. It is very visual as my class really struggle with the zoom element and its design and structure has been complemented by other teachers in my department.

Planned for a low ability year 11 class. Students wanted to revise linking quotations to context. Students are given quotations and they must analyse the quotations and link it to context. This benefited my class massively as they were revising the two main assessment objectives that they struggle with the most. Discussions and sharing links at the end was really beneficial as a lot of the class had different ideas. A very simple but effective lesson for the exam.

Students answer key questions, consider his feelings and structure a response to a key question. There is also a creative writing activity on the PowerPoint dealing with this section to provide an alternative approach to the extract. My students really engaged with this extract and enjoyed looking at how the language showed the Prince's feelings.
