<p>This page will generate Pythagoras questions with whole number answers. The answer can be typed in and marked by the computer. The question includes a labeled diagram. The student needs to properly understand which side is the hypotenuse since the diagram can be shown in various orientations – including when the hypotenuse is horizontal.</p> <p>I’m building a collection of such resources. I use them as periodic revision of topics.</p> <p>Having different questions, but all in the same format, helps since if a student can’t solve one on their own then they can follow a worked example and get the answer for their version of the question.</p>

<p>The aim here was to encourage students to focus on “what can I work out?” rather than to focus on the final aim of the question. As such: the first two slides can be skipped so the students start by looking at the diagram and are invited to think about what is presented.</p> <p>The diagram illustrating Pythagoras’ theorem is from a presentation I found on TES, sorry: I don’t remember which.
