This scheme of work is made up of 20 lessons and is designed for year 7 students; it works particularly well at the start of year 7 to support their transition from year 6 to 7. It is based upon, and includes, various short extracts linking to childhood, some are fiction and some are non-fiction: the extracts range from Dahl to Dickens. The scheme covers both writing and analysis skills, and provides various opportunities for assessment; there are also tasks which mirror the English Language AQA specification. The scheme includes detailed lesson outlines/plans for each lesson, and also includes a Nando’s style homework task, with a number of differentiated tasks for different topics.

This powerpoint guides students through the idea of pivotal moments, and provides an opportunity to identify the pivotal moments in a text. It isn't specific to any text (although the example for the starter is based on Romeo and Juliet), and can therefore be used to re-cap any text.
