This document is a yearly overview for Reception - Yr 2. This ensures that Reception cover Phase 2 with 4 sounds a week and Phase 3 with one sound a week. Reception will have the whole last term to perfect CVC, segmenting and blending and writing sentences with capital letters and full stops (as stated in the new curriculum). Year 1 will then recap the end of Phase 3 with 2 sounds a week moving on to Phase 5 and then to alternative sounds. Year 2 carries on alternatives, then to homophones, contractions, suffixes and pre-fixes.

On each week it outlines what sound they should be learning, the tricky words to learn to read and write each week and the set of books they should be reading. This is for the Letters and Sounds Project X books - from Oxford University Press.
