Batty Man

(4)
Excellent film that challenges homophobia and attitudes towards homosexuality that are found amongst young people today. Film focuses upon Stephen K Amos and the black community in the UK and Jamaica but these issues are more widespread than that. Film is 48 mins long so could be spread over 2 lessons. I have attached a worksheet that I created to use with the film.

Edexcel Unit 4 Pupil write up guide

(4)
This was created using the feedback from Edexcel's examiners report and breaks down what the students need to be writing in each section. The response form questions are not very clear for students so they were losing marks. The guide makes it clear how to meet Edexcel&'s assessment criteria. Body Image Unit

(1)
A set of lessons on body image designed for year 9 complete with tasks, video links and resources. I like to use current stories or news in my lessons and in this case I used Meghan Trainor's All About the Basss song and Protein World's "Are you beach body ready" advert. You may want to update these aspects of the lesson. I encourage students to campaign on issues and with this unit I wanted them to create films based on the issues raised. Hopefully you will encourage them to do something about this issue too.

GCSE Citizenship revision - Human Rights

(1)
A review of the basic aspects of human rights and where they originated from. I then challenge the students to evaluate whether human rights have been a disappointment or not drawing on their knowledge of current issues like privacy, torture and the treatment of refugees.

Files:
Video clip on the history of human rights
Video clip from the charity Liberty showingthe connection between human rights and classroom rules
