This is a lesson I taught on Lord Capulet, specifically looking at the change in Lord Capulet from the start of the play to his violent and angry treatment of Juliet later in the play. Page refs match to Oxford School Shakespeare. The lesson was graded at 'Outstanding' when observed.

This is a bundle of comprehension activities with mark schemes. Each A3 double sided comprehension activity has a resource to read through (be it an article or even a recipe) with 15 questions to answer (5 apprentice, 5 master and 5 expert). There are also two extension tasks. It is a format I created as Head of KS3 for my school and it is rolled out across Years 7 - 9 as a half hour form activity. This is a detailed 15 page revision guide for the Edexcel Literature poetry exam specifically for the ‘Relationships’ cluster. For each poem, I have provided notes on context, form, structure and language techniques (including key quotes). I gave this pack to my Year 11 students this year and they found it very useful. Attached are literacy activities for form for a 5 week term (5 PowerPoints). The PowerPoints are designed to test the skill of 'context comprehension'. Student are given 12 sentences (40 seconds per sentence - the PowerPoint is timed) - with a word in each sentence underlined - they then have to write down the definition of the underlined word from a multiple choice of possible answers. There are answers at the end of each PowerPoint so the students can mark their own/ a partner's work. Perfect for a half an hour form/ tutor time. These activities were very popular with students at the school I teach.

There is an extract to read through (in this case - a Jamie Oliver recipe) and there are 15 questions (5 apprentice, 5 master and 5 expert). I have attached the mark scheme (on a PowerPoint slide).
