The worksheet was created using 'discovery schools puzzle maker' but I don't have an answer sheet - sorry! You&'ll have to work it out before the lesson or set it as a challenge. The last challenge is really hard and requires a lot of literacy skill as well as ecology knowledge.
This is designed to get the students up and doing. Finding out about how fast nerve impulse move. The first experiment referred to is the whole class holding hands and passing a signal (hand squeeze) from one to another whilst timing it. Variations include backs to the circle and arms crossed. Lots of opportunity to talk about what they find out.

I have a mixed ability Y8 group and wanted to start with a couple of big questions to allow the brightest students to really run with it whilst providing enough structure to the weaker students to feel they have succeeded.
The PPT and W/S go together and should lead into a nice investigation either in class or for homework.
