<p>This is a lesson I prepared for the BTEC Extended Certificate in Business (Unit 3) where we were discussing factors that impact on our attitude to money. Students struggled to answer an exam question on this topic, hence the focus of the lesson - religion and how it impacts on our attitudes to money.</p>

A presentation to get students thinking about what a gap year is, why people may choose to do a gap year and to start thinking about what they would do with a gap year. This was produced for a Year 9 Careers Lesson but could be used as part of PSHE and / or used as a cover lesson for Years 10 and 11.

These resources take students (and staff) through step by step activities as an introductory lesson to Python. It took my classes 2 lessons in the main, but that was taking it very slowly for those who had never used the programme. It may be useful for KS3 too. The ppt drives the lesson really, with activity tasks for students. Most of the activities are not 'new&' but found in most textbooks - I&';ve just brought some existing ideas together.

<p>This presentation takes you through the first two sessions for Edexcel GCSE Business. The course overview is provided, which I print to put in student books so they can refer back to what they will be studying.</p>

<p>A lesson introducing the concept of Procurement for GCSE students. This includes an outline of the topic plus an exam style question. The activity then goes on to direct students to examine the impact of supply chaini issues on KFC in 2021.</p>

<p>A single lesson designed to explain the concept of Limited Liability to GCSE students. To be used prior to teaching Ltds and Plcs (an accompanying lesson will follow).</p>

<p>A two lesson series (housed within one presentation) developing understanding of partnerships and working collabortaively to form a sample Deed of Partnership (including planning). This could stretch to three lessons if you want students to present their ideas.</p>

<p>A single lesson focusing on competition for the GCSE specification. It starts with talking about competition in life, establishing debate amongst the students regarding whether competition is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. It then moves on to look at direct and indirect competition. A homework task is included.</p>

<p>A single lesson with accompanying student activity sheet to record notes / answers to tasks</p>

<p>An introductory lesson relating to job adverts - what they should contain, their purpose and factors to consider when designing an advert. The practical task in the second part of the lesson needs students to be able to access job adverts online.</p>

<p>A lesson exploring the pros / cons of competition including explanations of direct and indirect competition. A homework activity requiring students to explore and report on the competitive environment of a chosen business has been included.</p>

<p>A ‘wider reading’ template that can be used for any news story or article. It is a single PowerPoint slide set up as two slides to a page, enabling the resource to be printed in A5 size. This provides a ‘to do’ activity on the back of any reading you would like them to do. It would also work well with summarising a news story on television / social media.</p> <p>Generally, I use this every couple of weeks by providing students with a current affairs news story and ask them to use this template to sumamrise their understanding. This can be a Starter activity or a homework task.</p>

<p>A complete lesson with peer assessment requiring access to computers. It is intended that students will have some understanding of franchises before this lesson. Research will be undertaken in relation to franchising opportuniies and students are required to choose and justify one opportunity. Their decision is presented to a peer who assesses the quality of the judgement.</p>

<p>A single lesson introducing the concepts of types of stock, stock control and bar gate graphs. It includes a student sheet to complete as they go through the lesson (ensuring key elements are recorded) as well as exam practice on short answer questions. There is an exam style question within the lesson but you may wish to add some additional / longer exam questions at the end.</p>

<p>A single lesson which could be used to deliver an introduction to the idea of accessibility or could be set as a cover lesson. The students are given a basic introduction / discussion activity relating to what ‘accessibility’ means before undertaking a research task on Stephen Hawking. There is a student worksheet for them to record their findings.</p>

<p>A revision lesson covering the topic of liability. It assumes students have met the concept before and just need some refreshing. The lesson then leads on to apply this knowledge to an analyse question to complete in lesson plus an additional one for homework.</p>

<p>A single lesson exploring the different types of expenditure for the Unit 3 Personal and Business Finance unit.</p>

<p>A single lesson (with potential for homework depending on lesson length) looking at the topic of ‘meeting customer needs’ leading to an introduction to market research.</p>

<p>A complete pack of resources for 2-3 lessons (with student worksheets) on the topic of organisational cultures. The lesson starts with students thinking about what makes a national culture before applying this knowledge to companies.</p> <p>Created for A-Level and BTEC Level 3, this extends beyond the curriculum with a research project looking at Hofsteade’s Cultural Dimensions, extending their cultural capital.</p>

PowerPoint presentation and student worksheet / activity sheet. From experience, this takes a full lesson (1 hour). I would then recommend an examination style question on the topic with peer/self assessment - which is how I delivered it. I will not post the exam questions here as they are not my own work but these are easy enough to find online or in textbooks.

<p>A lesson that draws and expands on student knowledge of taxation. Leading to a disucssion about benefits and merit / demerit goods. Includes a discussion task for homework regarding whether or not state benefits should increase.</p>
