Lesson 1 begins by looking at current global problems and potential challenges we may be faced with over coming years. Students then examine the millennium development goals and use research and statistics to determine the extent to which they have/haven't been met. This then leads into the sustainable development goals as set by the UN and ends with a homework research task on these goals. <br />
In lesson 2 students consolidate their understanding of sustainability and start to evaluate how sustainable they are as human beings before considering actions they can take to be more sustainable. Next they examine how sustainable their school is and work in small groups to create a sustainable school.

Whilst there are a lot of data response and essay questions to practice from the old spec (Unit 4), my students wanted more practice with shorter questions so I have put together ten 4 mark questions, ten 8 mark questions and some practice 10, 12 and 15 mark questions (12 in total) to help them prepare for Paper 2- National and Global Economy. This is an A level lesson on poverty which looks at the causes, effects and policies used to reduce poverty in developing economies (Mexico and Kenya). I designed it for a lesson observation. This lesson is tailored so students are fully active learners with minimal teacher intervention. The most work you will do for this lesson is photocopying the resources but once done, the students should run the lesson themselves. <br />
