This is an idea that I had when my children were young and played with Geomag. It struck me as a great way for pupils to work out for themselves the best three-dimensional shapes for molecules. I have mentioned it to a few people at AQA A-level meetings and had good feedback. Please feel free to give me any ideas – I think that there are many other possible applications when modelling structures etc.
There are two powerpoints, one an instruction powerpoint, the other a lesson powerpoint for which I have worksheets to accompany.
Print first slide as A3 handouot. Pupils fill in section by section as powerpoint slides focus on each section (I notice that,\nunfortunately, some arrows have flipped upside down when the file was uploaded)
