<p>Pupils read a simple German text and draw and colour in the Christmas scene which is being described. The text has lots of repetition of simple structures and many contains core words with other topical vocabulary which pupils can find in a dictionary. The first task works well as a competiton and is enough to occupy most pupils for at least a 40-minute lesson. However it comes with extension activities which will challenge and occupy high ability pupils. This activity was designed to be used by year 8 or 9 but it reinforces basic grammar (identifying parts of speech and cases) so could also be used as a fun end-of-term task at KS4.</p>
