This is the lesson I use to introduce the Large Data Set to my Year 12’s. I print off the presentation as note sheets for them to add notes. Looks at locations, the data included and important information in bold, links to important information such as The Great Storm of 1987, possible data inaccuracies and information they may be asked about. I have also included an instruction sheet on cleaning the data that I give to them.

I used this with my year 12 Stats class when teaching sampling methods. It is a list of employees from 3 different departments in an imaginary business for students to try different sampling methods on to compare results and ease of the methods. Seemed to have worked better than just teaching them the methods when they did their end of unit assessment
