Full lesson on laws of indices covering the basic laws of indices (fractional and negative indices are not covered). <br /> <br /> The explanations of the laws of indices in the PowerPoint slides are adapted from the fantastic lesson by @finbutler999. <br /> <br /> The support sheet is designed as a reference for when pupils are undertaking the main activity -- could be provided as reusable laminated sheets, or as a worksheet to be printed and provided for each pupil to make notes on and stick in their exercise books. <br /> <br /> The Tarsia activity is one uploaded by @chuckieirish -- I gave the pupils the six-tile simplified version of this first and then the remainder of the tiles as an extension.<br /> <br /> There are two plenaries -- the first involves sticking the posters on the wall around the room and asking pupils to add a post-it note to each with a question on it that simplifies to the given answer. Full lesson introducing the concept of simultaneous equations, highlighting key vocabulary, looking at what criteria need to be met in order to be able to solve simultaneous equations, and illustrating that they can be solved in a number of different ways.<br /> <br /> The puzzles worksheet allows pupils to self-discover how to approach simultaneous equations with variables represented pictorially, initially by trial and error.<br /> <br /> Solving algebraic equations graphically is briefly outlined, with the main focus of the lesson being to start applying the substitution method. Three examples given to be gone through on the board and then a codebreaker worksheet.<br /> <br /> The plenary isn't necessarily designed to be answered, more to prompt pupils to start thinking -- and verbalising -- that they could set up a system of equations in order to solve the problem.<br /> <br /> Please do rate and review this resource -- I appreciate feedback!

I designed this activity as part of a lesson on solving simultaneous equations by substitution, but it could also be used for solving by elimination (although some equations will need to be manipulated first).<br /> <br /> Pupils find the values of the two variables in each question and decode the secret message using the grid provided.<br /> <br /> There is an extension task at the end of the worksheet involving drawing graphs to check the previous answers.<br /> <br /> Please do rate and review this resource -- I appreciate feedback!

Full lesson on solving exam problems involving angles that I used for an interview lesson with a Year 11 group due to take the Foundation paper (AQA) in June. Attached lesson plan shows intended timings, but in reality I scrapped the learning check question and final plenary in order to give the students more time on the carousel. <br /> <br /> The &quot;blank&quot; rectangles on slides 2, 19 and 21 are timers which can be set in slideshow mode.<br /> <br /> The starter worksheet is one uploaded by @Tristanjones which allowed students to review and recap the angle facts they need for the main task, as well as providing a reference for them throughout.<br /> <br /> Diagnostic questions from https://diagnosticquestions.com<br /> <br /> The carousel has eight main stations and two potential extension stations. I put each station on a separate table with the question laminated, enough paper copies of the question for each student to have one each, and the associated mark scheme face down on a different coloured sheet for reference after completing the question. Hint cards were printed (double-sided) and laminated to provide scaffolding for students -- this should free you up to circulate, check understanding and assist rather than getting stuck with a group and prompting them through a question. <br /> <br /> I'm a chronic overplanner so didn't use the extension but it might be useful if delivering as a revision session to Higher students. The extension booklet is from www.mrbartonmaths.com<br /> <br /> I provided a print-out of the mark schemes for students to take as a revision aid along with the question sheets -- punched a hole in the corners for them to treasury tag at the end.<br /> <br /> This is a very resource-heavy lesson but its design should encourage the independence and self-questioning vital to students so close to their exams, with a focus on approaching multi-step problems one mark at a time.<br /> <br /> Please do rate and review this resource -- I appreciate feedback!

Full lesson on investigating graph theory and networks which is extremely derivative -- very largely based on the stupendous lesson and worksheet uploaded by @Owen134866. I have added some more scaffolding in terms of discussing vocabulary and created a support sheet so that this topic can be accessed at KS3 and above.<br /> <br /> I have delivered this lesson successfully to mixed ability Year 7s and high ability Year 9s to date, and always really enjoy it. It's generally something I pull out towards the end of term as a treat with a view to improving students' problem-solving skills.<br /> <br /> Extension worksheet is adapted from the Konigsberg problem entry on Wikipedia although I have not yet used it -- it might prove to be a good extension to the main lesson for A Level students.<br /> <br /> Please do rate and review this resource -- I appreciate feedback!

Presentation detailing university summer schools for Year 12 students. <br /> <br /> I developed this resource with the demographics of my Year 12 cohort in mind specifically, and as such it is not utterly comprehensive. Any summer schools whose deadlines were before the end of February -- when I started to look into this -- are not included; neither are schemes who stipulate that students should attend schools in the locality of the university (except those universities in the West Midlands, where I am based). Similarly, I have left off eligibility criteria relating to the need to have a minimum of five GCSEs grades A* to C as this is a criterion our students have to meet before they join our Sixth Form. <br /> <br /> It is also worth noting that the vast majority of these schemes have been developed in response to the government's widening participation initiatives and aim to attract a higher proportion of previously underrepresented demographics to higher education.
