It involves an understanding of powers of 10, manipulation of calculations and the ability to check answers through estimation. It should make a useful starter activity, especially in the run up to exams.
10 afl questions where pupils describe various transformations of graphs. Questions 8 - 10 are particularly challenging and may require using software (eg Geogebra) to demonstrate them. No solutions are given.

Sets of axes to print and photocopy to save students a few minutes in lessons. They are faint so that anything drawn on them has more chance of being visible.
This investigation is intended to allow students to practise the column methods of addition and subtraction. It's a great way of setting loads of questions with relatively little marking. It is based on the 1089 algorithm.
