Two week or longer unit for an able year 4 class. Covering haiku, tanka, cinquain, kenning, clerihew, and rhyming couplet. Plans and notebook files borrow from many sources. Unit seeks to put each poetic form in its historical context as well as teach how to write each form. Everything is fully editable and should be changed as much as required.

Short spelling dictionary in Publisher format. Words are those commonly used by seven and eight year olds in their writing. Space for children to add more words. Print out and make into a booklet by judicious use of the photocopier. Have fun!
