Eminem - poetry unit

(13)

3 lesson unit on poetry for LA (year 9?). I created it for LA pupils very unexcited by the prospect of poetry. It uses The Way I am by Eminem - I have included the edited poem and links to edited version of the song. Sorry about the lazy layout of the lesson plans and ignore the speaking and listening activities. I’m a new teacher so can’t promise it’s up to much, but some colleagues have said they like it… comments would be appreciated if people have the time.

A ppt with some pre and post reading tasks and a (hopefully) entertaining display of images to accompany Lawrence Ferlingetti's poem Two Scavengers in a truck.. and help pupils understand what it is about.

Skellig by David Almond: Assessment

(8)

A resource with a guided writing frame for David Almond's novel Skellig - able year 7/8 pupils. The assessment is based on Michael or Skellig’s character. It uses Point Evidence Explain framework as its basis and prompts pupils to look for quotations on certain pages (of the issue I have, obviously).

Development of A Christmas Carol - structure, theme, character

(0)

Charts the plot of a Christmas Carol with links at each stage to the overall structure, theme and character. There is a focus on causality - how events and characters impact upon further events and the themes of the novel. On the reverse is a grid which students can complete which encourages them to make connections between the key events and themes for themselves in order that they can see the work as an authorial construction rather than merely a story.
