4 Mental Maths tests which cover much of the curriculum in year 5 and 6. Aimed mainly at higher ability children - may be a useful SATs revision tool, to identify areas of improvement. Answers provided to save you time!

6 mental maths tests, covering most of the new curriculum. Mainly number, but also questions on measures, shape and space included. I use these to assess how my class are doing and identify areas of improvement.

A selection of phrases for pupils to sort into formal and informal. Mostly applicable to letter writing. I used this as a starter activity for my Year 4 class when we began our letter writing unit.
A lesson I taught with my Year 4 class using conjunctions ‘or, but, when, if, because and although.’ Files include the power point slides and 3 differentiated worksheets.
Four wordsearches containing all the words in the Year 3 and 4 statutory word list. Trying to make teaching these as interesting for the kids as possible - although it's not always easy!
A whole day's activity for Year 5 or 6. Links World War 2 to Literacy and writing Newspaper reports. The children are split into newspaper teams and have to make notes on the news on 3rd September 1939 as it breaks! The powerpoint is set up to release the news one item at a time so the children can decide what they need to prioritise for the front page. All plans and resources provided (You can embed the speeches into the presentation for maximum effect)
Two crosswords containing all 100 words on the Year 3 and 4 Spellings statutory list. Another way to get the children to learn this massive list of words!
24 cards to elicit discussion and promote reasoning among your pupils. Each card contains a statement about multiples. The children then discuss if it's always, sometimes or never true. Ranging from simple statements such as 'All multiples of 2 are even' to more difficult such as 'All multiples of 6 are multiples of 3' and 'All multiples of 3 are multiples of 6' . I've printed these out 8 to a page and laminated them. I found them a really useful tool and a good way of showing children that you can explain things without using words - very useful for those tricky SATs questions!
An OFSTED inspector has been killed on the school grounds! I produced this revision guide to nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs for my year 5/6 class. Crack the clues to find the killer! There are four clues, each relying on the children identifying nouns, verbs, adjectives or adverbs. The answers are the same but each clue is differentiated 3 ways (blue easiest, orange middle and green most difficult) I have used staff from my school (with myself as the killer!) but you could personalise the activity to your school to really engage the children (Just ensure your killer ate chips, wore trainers and supports a football team who play in blue!) It took hours to produce, but my class absolutely loved it!
Five worksheets to test children's understanding of algebra. In 2 of the sheets, values are given for a,b,c and d and pupils solve questions such as ab -c etc. In the other 3 sheets, pupils have to find the value of a. A useful revision tool for Upper KS2 and lower KS3.
Some activities using factor spiders. Introduce the factor spiders with the introduction sheet. We then investigated which factor spiders have odd numbers of legs (square numbers) and which only have 2 legs (prime numbers)
Quick fire mental maths sheets for the start of lessons or early morning activity. Five activities on each sheet, one for each day. First sheet is multiplying by 2, second sheet is dividing by 2 and halving and the third sheet is a mixture. Good way to reinforce rapid recall of 2 times tables.
A differentiated activity revising prime numbers, square numbers, factors, multiples, properties of shape and more. Although differentiated the answer is the same for all worksheets for ease of marking!
A fun resource for the children. Find the correct fractions and crack the code to reveal an awful maths joke! The children have to find fractions of numbers, including where the numerator is more than one e.g. 2/7 of 21 etc.
