Australia timeline (to scale) & aboriginal symbols

(6)
Want to teach some Australian history in a fun way? This is an Australian timeline that's drawn to scale. On one edge of the worksheet, it shows how Aborigines used symbols to represent things. Incorporating this knowledge, children are to draw symbols/pictures to represent events as written about on the timeline. I've included an example of how to fill one in to give you the idea. Blow the worksheet up to A3 for children to have enough space for their pictures. Worked a treat when I used it.

Life's too short for sticking sugar paper onto display work. I scanned some lined paper and added different coloured borders. I&'ve used it many times and it&';s indistinguishable from real bordered display work. Print it out full page, trim off any white edges then it's ready to be written on and put on display. As a bonus, there&'s also a sheet of handwriting paper and A4 lined paper. The last photo shows what the display looks like with children&';s work.

Fun dance composition - 12 variable tempo mp3s

12 rhythm tracks from slow to insanely fast. Each track has a voice calling out 'One, two, three, four,' to help children keep up with the beat. Each track lasts for 5 minutes. Useful for dance composition. Get children in groups (dance crews) to make up their own series of moves that are repeatable for 4 beats. See if they can keep up with the different tempos as you speed it up. Easy to extend. Make up moves for 8 beats. Groups to teach each other their moves. Have a big dance off at the end of the lesson. Groups in time can keep on dancing.
