Aimed at lower ability students with the focus being on understanding the plot and scaffolding activities to enable students to write PEE paragraphs on character and theme.
Objective: to evaluate the work of Practical action in promoting development in LEDC's.
Starter: to be used to recap main development indices and recognise links between them.
Map: Could be completed as a whole class using post it notes and they work together to name all the selected countries. Or groups could compete against each other.
Main activity: Students use the information sheet on one of the projects to complete the worksheet. The cards could be given out to extend learning as they decide which terms are appropriate to their project and use them in their writing. All information on the projects are taken from the Practical action website and are reproduced for schools who do not have access to ICT for lessons. Alternatively students could complete the worksheet by accessing the information directly form the website.
Feedback: Students either feedback to the whole class or carousel round the groups so that they have an overview of each project.
Evaluation: Could use colour coded post it notes and students award each project a score out of 10 and write a reason to explain their score. They then stick them on the board. Either select students to summarise the scores / patterns or the teacher explains them.
