'A World of Waste' Tool Kit for Eco Heroes

It is absolutely essential that today’s children understand the importance of looking after our planet and what they can do to help protect it for future generations. Our Tool Kits For Eco Heroes are designed to help children learn and understand the world where we live and ignite their interest in protecting it.

Research suggests that both educators and young people care deeply about environmental issues and have a strong desire to protect our planet. Environmental issues such as climate change, decreasing biodiversity, habitat destruction and pollution are huge global issues, however the thought of teaching them can be intimidating, leaving many feeling overwhelmed. Our Tool Kits provide a comprehensive, cost effective and easy solution for educators. They offer hours of activities, news and information that gently explains key issues and links to the National Curriculum.

Here’s what’s inside:

Take the waste challenge and see if you’re a waste warrior and can hit the top of our totaliser and use the fact file to learn more about what happens to our waste, depending on what bin you put it in. Follow our easy recipe and make your own houmous - a great packaging free snack and learn about Isatou Ceesay, the activist turning waste into wealth with our eco hero card. Our I Spy card will get you hunting for things to swap with your friends. You’ll find postcard to help you start a campaign to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse and recycle, there’s a whole heap of ideas for turning trash into treasure, as well as a quiz to test your waste knowledge, a pledge card and 20 waste and recycling facts to wow your friends. There’s also 2 activity cards packed with eight fun puzzles so you can start becoming a waste expert immediately!

Activities include repurposing corks to make mini planters, stamping our own gift wrap ready for the next celebration, you can learn how to design and make our own patches to breathe new life into old clothes and make beeswax wraps.

There’s also a little something for grown-ups inside to help you answer any questions about why waste is a problem as well as a useful glossary.
