'Brightstorm' Whole-Class Guided Reading

Here are the first two Guided Reading lessons I have created around Vashti Hardy’s ‘Brightstorm’ novel. Recommended for Year 6 learners.

These interactive slides feature questions in the VIPERS format, where children can practice their retrieval, inference and other core reading skills. Lots of partner and table talk is encouraged throughout these slides, allowing you to assess your cohort’s comprehension of the text. Additional challenge questions are provided on each slide, to extend the learning of children that finish early. The slides have been designed to imitate the ‘Brightstorm’ book cover, offering a visually appealing and stimulating aid to assist your whole-class Guided Reading sessions.
