'Exposure' - introduction to the poem

A differentiated and fully resourced lesson designed to give a mixed ability year 10 group an overview of what the poem is about and how power and conflict are shown in the text. Lesson includes: differentiated (all, most, some) LO, dictionary race starter task, vocabulary grid to support glossing of the poem with an embedded video reading of the text (BBC Bitesize). Plenary checks e.g. Which statement is truest? Quiz Quiz Trade on the importance of personification in the text. Main Activity is a guided explosion of a key quote with a power question to answer. Success criteria is displayed and used for a peer assessment plenary task.
