This is an exciting new podcast for 7 - 14 year olds based on my “DNA Detective” books (The DNA Detectives - To Catch a Thief, The DNA Dectives - The Smuggler’s Daughter and The DNA Detectives - The Stone Age Mystery).

In each episode I will be joined by my daughter Annabelle, who is also a character in my books. We will be interviewing top scientists on the different uses of DNA including forensic science, medicine, Covid-19 and archaeology.

The topics have been designed to be relevant to real-world science which effects children’s every day lives, link with topics such as living things and evolution & inheritance, to raise awareness of different scientific careers and to increase science capital.

Each episode includes weblinks so children can find out more about the topic and try out some fun activities. A great way of fitting 15 minutes of science into your children’s day and to inspire young minds. The episodes include;

  1. Dr. Fran Gale – ‘What is DNA?’

  2. Dr. Selina Brace – ‘DNA: Unlocking the past’

  3. Dr. Frank Schwach – ‘DNA: Defeating Covid-19’

  4. Dr. Marcus Lee and Dr. Lara Lawniczak – ‘DNA: Fighting malaria’

  5. Jess Wenham - ‘DNA: Catching criminals’

  6. Dr. Jayne Houghton – ‘DNA: Beating disease’
