‘The Storm Dragon’ – Non-Chronological Report - Talk for Writing Style English Unit (3 Weeks)

A 3 - week unit of work focussing on non-chronological reports (dragonology) Used in Year 4 but could easily be adapted for UKS2.

A detailed 3-week (15 lessons) unit in the style of T4W covering the Imitation, Innovation and Independent of The Storm Dragon. For each week there are resources (all labelled with what lesson), SNB/PPT , images and other resources needed. There is also a detailed plan for the whole unit.
Each day there are starters, inputs, differentiated activities and plenaries in the format of SmartNotebook and PPT.

The objectives covered in this unit are:
• The use of rhetorical questions
• The use of generalisers
• The use of conjunctions to join clauses
• To use expanded noun phrases
• The use of possessive plural apostrophes
I thoroughly enjoyed teaching this unit. The children were engaged and happy to be learning.
