This is the ninth resource in a series of lessons for the AQA GCSE Chemistry ‘Atomic structure and the periodic table’ topic in paper 1. The resource could also be used for KS3 when they learn about Group 1 metals. Students enjoy the Group 1 metals lesson as the teacher demonstration is often very exciting. The information sheet does explain the trend in reactivity of the alkali metals but this is also included in a later lesson on explaining trends.
