This is a Powerpoint presentation of 10 slides and is no.13 in a series of 60-minute lessons used by me to tutor a GCSE student via Zoom. The focus of each lesson is grammatical, rather than topic specific, and as such they can be slotted into topic work as required. In addition, each lesson attempts to extend the use of German to match the requirements of GCSE Higher Tier.
This presentation explains how to connect clauses through the use of relative pronouns. It begins with the Nominative case, which it practises via Tic Tac Toe and moves on to the other three cases, which it develops through translation activities, before showing the parallel with the interrogatives ‘wer’, ‘wen’, ‘wessen’, ‘wem’ and demonstrating when the relative pronouns is ‘was’. The final slide is a text about family, which includes many relative pronouns and which I’ve entitled ‘my relatives’.
