1569 Revolt of the Northern Earls video worksheets, differentiated

In 1569, Charles Neville, Earl of Westmorland, and Thomas Percy, Earl of Northumberland, rebelled against Queen Elizabeth I in support of Mary Queen of Scots. This documentary explores the story of the rebellion, its background and consequences, from its inception at Brancepeth Castle, Co. Durham, through the celebration of the Catholic Mass by the rebels at Durham Cathedral, to its downfall at Barnard Castle and the retributions that followed. Also known as The Rising of the North, and The Revolt of the Northern Earls. The film mixes exposition with location scenes, readings from contemporary documents, and contemporary illustrations. Very thorough and engaging.
