Get all students learning and revising quotes, even those who say that it’s impossible! In this activity, students will identify which character connects a group of quotes. They will also have to identify which quote is the odd one out in each group. What can feel like a chore will soon feel like a fun challenge!

Students can complete this activity independently or as a pair/group. You also have the option of giving students a list of all key characters to help them if you want to lessen the level of challenge.

Answers are included, and the quotes connecting the characters also have a brief comment to show their significance. These provide useful teacher notes, especially if this is your first time teaching the novel. They are also useful to give to students as revision guides once they’ve had a go at the activity themselves. You can also print and laminate the answer sheets to reuse every time you teach the novel.
