This is a fun challenge aimed at extending vocabulary with a range of new and interesting words for learners to look up and try out at home. There is a set of twenty six brightly presented words, each starting with a different letter of the alphabet, and these include the following: diminish, infallible, penultimate and undulating.
As vocabulary tends to need constant reinforcement, this task is suitable for anyone between the ages of 11 and 16 plus.
An additional challenge for more able students is included, that involves writing sentences using two different words from the list.
The task is perfect for a range of uses. For example, a family may decide to take one word per day to focus on understanding and using, or teachers could easily use the sheet as a generic task to challenge whole classes or year groups.
