Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how changes in atoms are linked to the absorption and emission of electromagnetic waves.
  • Describe how some electromagnetic waves are ionising radiation and how they can damage the body.
  • Describe how radiation dose is measured and draw conclusions from data about the risks and consequences of exposure to radiation.
  • Explain how radio waves can be produced by, and cause, alternating currents.
