This is both a very comprehensive Reading and Writing resource for ADULT ESL students focusing on paraphrasing. It is designed for students who are Intermediate level and above who need to write academic essays for IELTS or other academic purposes.

Paraphrasing is an important skill for any academic situation as well as for passing the IELTS exam at a level 7 or above. It is a skill that most ESL students find very difficult Being able to paraphrase well demonstrates a flexibility in language use. It is also crucial at University level to avoid plagiarism and the consequences.

This resource provides you with all the resources you will to teach your students how to paraphrase effectively. everything has been provided, including answers to everything.

Included in this resource are:

• 3 different Reading Texts that are based on the topic of plagiarism and paraphrasing.

• Comprehension Activities for each text using question types similar to those found on the IELTS test.

• Vocabulary Activities for each text.

• A Cloze Activity based on the texts. There are 2 versions making differentiation easy.

• 6 different paraphrasing strategies with practice exercises for each.
  Strategies included are:

  1. Nominalisation
  2. Using synonyms
  3. Changing the order of information
  4. Creating complex sentence
