I have made a resource where the children must start at a number and complete 8 steps before reaching a answer. this can be used as part of a game, where the solution are a password to unlock a prize or something.
The resource is differentiated with 3 easy questions (green), 3 medium questions (yellow) and 3 hard questions (red).
The resource idea was taken from the mathematical puzzle that you might find in newspapers.
I have used this resource with Year 2 students where they were adding on a empty number line but it can be used with year 3 or even low group year 4. It can also be used for adding mentally.
