An Inspector Calls is a play written by J.B.Priestley, first performed in 1945. The play takes place on one night in 1912 and it focusses on the upper-middle class birling family who are suspects of a crime involving the young girl Eva Smith.
It is widely used now by secondary school students who are studying their GCSEs and use An Inspector calls a as a play to study as part of the English literature course.
