Included is a ppt to introduce the activity - solving ancient Egyptian-themed word problems involving addition and subtraction. The column method is used in the demonstration.
The presentation recaps on using RUCSAC to solve word problems then includes two examples of word problems (+ and -) with an ancient Egyptian theme. Two sheets of word problems (one is slightly harder) are included for the children to complete after the presentation, during the lesson. One set is a pdf, the other a word document for editing.
Also included is an ancient Egyptian story and word problems related to it to solve (editable Word doc). This can be used as an extension activity or as a lesson in itself. This story is also available as a free resource on its own. Please check out my other resources!
