These resources have been developed by berkshire SEN teachers, in partnersip with Berkshire West NHS. We hope that you find them useful in teaching your students about annual health checks. As you may know, all people with an EHCP, over the age of 14, are eligible for an annual health check. Please use these resources to help support your pupils to understand what to expect, and to empower them to tell the GP surgery their preferences and requirements. Head teachers in special schools should have been sent NHS letters, telling parents about health checks, so please look out for these, from the NHS in your local area.
Here are some role play resources, lesson plans and symbols to help your students write letters to the doctor. Please use and adapt as needed. There are also roleplay doctors resources on Twinkl, which may be useful.
These resources were made by PSHE leads at Brookfields and The Castle School.
