This edi PowerPoint reviews the skills of skimming and scanning (see my other PowerPoint resource) and gives students explicit steps to identify and answer literal questions in texts. Using the model of gradual release (I do, we do, you do) this lesson uses texts about Houdini and the Terracotta Army from past Year 7 NAPLAN reading magazines (link provided) to guide students to independent practice. There are links to videos about the topics in the text to help build students’ background knowledge.
