The Guide is one which introduces and makes reference to a wide range of language related features and ideas which are ideal to introduce early in the course. As well as a few synthesized lists of theorists and key terms there are also diagrams and exemplars which help explain some of the trickier ideas around phonetics and grammar as well as discourse or pragmatics.
Following this is a little book of extracts for early language analysis, posters, blogs etc which articulate language in action.
Lastly some mock exam questions and papers, especially on accent and sociolect for students to practice or to set as mocks.
