These resources have been designed for students working towards the AQA Entry Level Certificate in Maths who are working at Entry Level 2. It contains an age-appropriate, 47-page workbook and a 145-slide PowerPoint lesson on fractions.
These resources will help pupils to achieve these outcomes:
identify one quarter and one third of a shape
identify one quarter and one third of a quantity
work out one quarter and one third of a number
count in halves, thirds and quarters
understand the equivalence of a half and two quarters
work out amounts two, three or four times the size of a given amount
use fractions to solve real-life number problems
Workbook
The 47-page workbook includes 11 information pages, 33 worksheets, 2 progress checks and a certificate of achievement on fractions. The resource is available in PDF and an editable PowerPoint version. It is ideal for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
PowerPoint
The editable PowerPoint lesson explains all the skills needed to achieve the above learning outcomes. There are many examples and opportunities in the PowerPoint for students to practice and apply their fraction skills. It also contains links to several short videos on fractions and example fraction exam questions. It is ideal for introducing students to this component of the specification and for revision purposes.
