Whole lesson whereby students learn about transpiration in xylem vessels and translocation in phloem vessels.
Starter: Students use video clips to fill in a table about the differences between transpiration and translocation. They will also note down features of xylem vessels and phloem vessels.
Main: Students use potometers to calculate rate of transpiration in different conditions. e.g lamps are used to alter light intensity and fans are used to alter wind speed. Students are also encouraged to calculate the rate of transpiration by calculating water uptake per minute
