A lesson centred around the poem England in 1819 by Percy Bysshe Shelley. This resource is aimed at students at KS4, studying the new Worlds and Lives AQA anthology but could be used and adapted for use at KS3 also.

This resource was made with support of the AQA Teacher’s Guide and aligns with ideas promoted through this by the exam board.

Included is:

  • A detailed ‘Teacher’s Copy’ annotation of the poem, considering Form, Structure and Language, as well as relevant contextual factors. (WORD document)
  • Comprehensive slides including: (POWERPOINT document)
  • suggested teaching notes/ questions throughout
  • moments for oracy and discussion
  • recap starter/DO NOW task
  • consolidation plenary with comparative ideas as per AQA specification

Well-structured lesson, plenty of context information to develop students' understanding of the poem. Really useful detailed annotations on the 'teacher copy'
