This is a 4 page plan for an assembly (pdf) on Ash Wednesday, with a focus on the theme of consequences for our actions. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute!
In this assembly, children listen to an Old Testament story. There is a 16 slide animated PowerPoint included which contains the story. (This is non-editable. Click ‘Read Only’ to open the PowerPoint). The plan finishes by introducing children to what happens on Ash Wednesday and how this is linked to the story the children have heard and to their own lives.
There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with.
