Averages and the range - interactive Excel activity

I made this to teach students about averages and the impact that changing one or more of the original values may have on some of the averages and the range but not necessarily all of them. You set the original 5 values and the students can work out the mode, median, mean and range. You can then ask them what would happen if they changed one of the values to a different value? Which of the averages would it change? Can you change the numbers to give you a mean of 5 but a mode of 6? How about a median of 6 too? There is also a second activity in which you start with 5 values, you set a rule such as add 2 and then you ask the students what impact that would have on each of the averages and the range. Which ones change and which do not?
