This is full lesson plan, with resources, covering Stevie Smith’s : Away Melancholy. To support English Poetry studies or Cambridge Songs of Ourselves.

This is a full ‘no frills’ lesson -with scope to cover one or two lessons if required - The lesson is provided in Word document with a classroom PowerPoint, both of which are editable, if required. Simply set out with **lots **of in depth detail - you can fully edit to use as much or as little as you require.

This lesson is easy to follow and could therefore be used as a ‘last minute’ lesson, or even a ‘cover lesson’ - if required - as the all of the information and answers tasks is included - all you need to do is print it.

Teacher’s notes, student tasks and task handouts - the teacher notes are in word, and have also been added as a PowerPoint presentation to support either a chalk and talk or read and make notes approach.

The lesson contains the following:
A one page easy to follow lesson plan
A comprehensive set of teacher support notes that provide answers and information to the questions set. This information is on a word document and and PowerPoint to share with students.
Student tasks - discussion, practical (identify key poetic skills used) Q&A.
Short Student Task - students given an analysis of the poem - asked to re-write using quotes to support the statements made.
