This is a whole lesson to support the learning of Hughes’ Bayonet Charge. The lesson includes ideas about the context of the poem, STUMP (structure, tone, use of language, message and point of view) analysis of the poem and a practice question based on key themes. There is also a comparison question inserted to help students compare the poems they have studied so far. This is the eleventh lesson in this scheme of work. Here students are encouraged to annotate the poems themselves before sharing ideas as a class.
