This resource focuses on the theme of “Being Kind” for Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, fostering emotional understanding and social development.
The theme is divided into four key areas: Myself, Others, Community, and Family. Children will explore kindness through interactive activities and discussions using six kindness cards for each category.
These cards can be cut out and used to spark conversations and sort examples of kind behaviors.
A planning sheet includes 10 engaging activity ideas, such as categorizing/sorting kindness cards, setting daily kindness challenges, and designing kindness posters to display in the classroom or community.
Writing suggestions might include writing a letter to the community and making a Kindness Jar.
The resource connects to the Word of the Year 2024: Kindness. Activities also align with key topics like “Ourselves,” “Me,” and "Growing Up.
This comprehensive approach encourages children to understand the value of kindness in their relationships with themselves, their families, and the wider community.
