Find out how one artist created a symbol of Pride that spread worldwide. See how people in different places around the world celebrate Pride and continue to push for change.

What Will You Do?

  1. Discover pivotal events in the development of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement.
  2. Learn about the origins of the rainbow flag and how it spurred other Pride symbols.
  3. See how early events in the LGBTQIA+ rights movement sparked demands for rights in other places.

This lesson can be used in the classroom or given to students to work through independently, with fellow students, or with another adult. The content geared toward students aged 16 and over. Some of the linked content in this lesson is intended for more mature audiences.
