• These teaching resources explain the work of Professor Tuck Seng Wong and his team, based at The University of Sheffield in the UK, who are applying the concept of Darwinian evolution to engineer biological systems for industrial applications.
• The article also contains interviews with Tuck and the team. If you or your students have a question for them, you can submit it online – go to the article using the Futurum link below and scroll to the bottom of the page. The team will reply!
• The activity sheet provides ‘talking points’ (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy) to prompt students to reflect on the team’s research, and tasks them to think about how they would apply biomanufacturing technology to an industry.
• The animation summarises the team’s work and is accompanied by the script.
• The PowerPoint reiterates the key points in the article and includes further talking points to encourage students to reflect on their own skills and aspirations.
